The Willcox, re-created by David and Christie Garrett in 2000, is a gracious, traditional Southern hotel, its long porches and stately white pillars perfectly at home in the pretty antebellum town of Aiken, South Carolina, the "polo capital" of the South. The Willcox was built in the late 1800s for well-to-do Yankees seeking warmth, light and high society - for Aiken was the "winter colony" of the Gilded Age.
