In 1923, Ralf and his brother Carmi purchased an old home across the street from the local creamery. They converted it into a store and over the years added on. Ryan's market was first opened in 1923, and soon became a landmark of the area. While it closed in the late 1970s, the former Ryan's building still stands today. The original Ryan's Market carried many items, but it was the meat and cob smoked bacon that drew people from all over.
